At the end of May, I launched my first ever mini-course on Becoming a Paid Storyteller! Which of course begged a really important question: What the hell IS a paid storyteller? A paid storyteller is anyone who can make money by talking about stuff they already know. They are business people, celebrities, coaches, influencers, writers, and YOU.
You can become a paid storyteller too! It’s not even that hard. It just takes a lot of consistency, confidence, and attention to THREE rules.
RULE 1: BULLET PROOF BELIEF
Tell a story that you believe in. Are there three things you can’t shut up about? I don’t care if it’s physics or motherhood or making grilled cheese sandwiches; there is a story there. You just have to lean in, believe it, and share it.
RULE 2: FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PROCESS
It’s not enough to tell your story once and call it a day. You’ll have to show up and share your story over and over again until you’re blue in the face. It will mean building relationships, getting in front of the camera, and making little steps forward everyday to grow a big following. If you love the process, you’ll find success.
RULE 3: SHOW UP TO SERVE OTHERS
People want to follow stories that are about THEM. So start thinking about the people around you. What do they care about? How can you help them? This means talking about the people you serve WAY more than you talk about your products and services. You’ll be surprised how much you sell by sharing and serving.
Of course, nothing happens without massive action. Start an Instagram account. Post a video where you’re doing something you love. Start reaching out to people. Build relationships.
